Mary R - Age 73 - El Guache - Salazar-Serrano

MARY R. SALAZAR-SERRANO, 73, a resident of El Guache and originally of Youngsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe I. Salazar, Sr. and Ramoncita Salazar; sister, Caroline Salazar; brothers, Leroy G. and Dennis Salazar; nieces, Jennifer Salazar and Ginger Jaramillo; nephew, Joseph Eloy Salazar; grandson, Nathaniel Rey Salazar; step-son-in-law, Anthony Gutierrez; brother-in-law, Lee Padilla and Roy Romero. Mary was retired from the State of New Mexico Public Regulation Commission where she was an Administrative Secretary, Mary was very strong in her faith and had a passion for Jesus. She was very personable and she was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking and making fresh tortillas and sopapillas. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Serrano is survived by her husband of 12 years, Benicio “Benny” Serrano; son, Joseph Eric Salazar and fiancé Jenny, her adopted sons, Gabriel and Dion; 6 step-children; brothers and sisters, Napoleon Salazar and wife Helen, Eloy Salazar and wife MaryLou, Julia Jaramillo and husband Archie, Joe I. Salazar, Jr. and wife Isabel, Betty Padilla, John Alex Salazar and wife Mabel, Theresa Romero, Raymond Salazar and wife Therese, Lucy Abercrombie and husband Loren, Danny Salazar and companion Claudie, Annette Joseph and husband Kevin and Judy Martinez and husband Leroy; grandchildren, Angelo, Jonathan, Francisco, Angel and great-grandchildren; Jarrod and Sergio Salazar and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu with Father Sanchez officiating. Burial to follow at the Cañones Catholic Cemetery, Meal will be immediately following burial at the Rio Arriba County Rural Event Center on the El Rito Highway. Serving as pallbearers will be her brothers Danny, Raymond, John Alex, Joe I., Jr., Eloy and Napoleon Salazar. Honorary pallbearer will be her God-son, Francisco Salazar and God-mother, Lillian Trujillo. The family of Mary R.
