Mary Lou Maes, 46, a resident of Los Luceros passed away peacefully at her home from a sudden illness surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 24, 2014. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; Ciriaco Maes and Mary Ann and Fred Quintana; brother, Anthony Eloy Maes; maternal grandparents, Clemente and Celsa Gallegos, paternal grandparents, Epimenio and Eloisa Maes. Mary Lou loved New Mexico music her favorite artist was Lorenzo Antonio. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and UNM Lobos. She cherished her family whom she loved dearly and her strong catholic faith kept her spirits high. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Mary Lou is survived by her brothers and sisters, Leonor Luna and husband Felipe of Mountainair NM, Toby Maes and wife Sandra of Albuquerque, Maria Austin of Los Lunas, Richard Maes of Albuquerque, Silvia Herrera and husband Epimenio of Los Luceros; close uncle, Joe Maes of Los Luceros; nieces and nephews, Michael, Anna, Esperanza, Veronica, Dawn, Christina, James, Rebecca, Katherine, Mathew and Edward, five great-nephews and five great- nieces, plus many loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial will be at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque at a later date. Serving the family as pallbearers are Toby and Richard Maes, Michael Garley, James Naranjo, Mathew Naranjo and Epimenio Herrera, honorary pallbearers named are Joe Maes and Felipe Luna.
