Mary Lopez

Mary M. Lopez, 78, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 following a short illness. She was born on August 8, 1939. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Dolores Montoya; brother, Ursulo Montoya; children, Sammy L Lopez, Benny Gene Lopez and Dolores L. Lopez; grandson, Juan Lopez; sister, Isabel Romero. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her husband, Max Lopez; children, Betty Lopez (Med Cordova), Isabel Lopez (Mike Prada) and Sammy M. Lopez (Cynthia); grandchildren, Jacqueline Martinez (Joseph Vigil), Maxine Lovato (Bill Smith), Harvey Arellano and Samantha Jean Lovato; great-grandchildren, Shawn Alarid, Nicole Bejarano, Deion Atkinson, Faith Smith, Aubrey Smith, Angel Lopez, Tiana Lopez, Analisa Lopez and Jestiny Martinez; close cousin, Betty Romero, Angie Trujillo; sister-in-law, Mary Garcia and many other relatives and friends. Public Visitation will begin Friday, March 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Serving the family as pallbearers are Maxine Lovato, Samantha Lovato, Jacquelin Martinez, Evaristo Lopez, Harvey Arellano, Shawn Alarid, Bill Smith, Deion Atkinson and Medardo Cordova. The family of Mary M. Lopez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
