Mary Gallegos

d. August 1, 2017

Our beloved, Mary Louise Gallegos, 69, was a resident of Espanola, NM and was returned to the Lord on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Pecos, NM on April 25th, 1948, had lived in Espanola for the past 40 years with her family, and enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage to Ernie Gallegos. She is survived by her husband, Ernie, children; Ernesto Gallegos, Dawn Gallegos-Vigil (husband Paul Vigil), and Andrew Gallegos (wife Jessica Gallegos), grandchildren; Chyanne Gallegos, Caleb Vigil, Aidan and Jacob Gallegos, sisters; Orlin Sena, Vangie Varela, Connie Varela, and numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Luis Encinias and sister Fabby Encinias. Mary was a strong, caring, loving, generous, selfless individual who cared about others no matter where she went and who she met. She brought joy, love, and laughter to everyone who was in her presence. She would always put others before herself and ask if they were comfortable or needed anything. She would exchange stories and jokes, and would ask to dance to Spanish music with her. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, traveling with Ernie to Las Vegas, Nevada or to Creede, Colorado for some good fishing. Everyone who knew her will deeply miss her smile and laughter as her family and friends continue carry on her love and her legacy. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, well wishes, and friendship. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada in Santa Cruz with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary at 12:00 p.m. The family of Mary Louise Gallegos has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
