On February 4th, 2025 (World Cancer Day)
Ersilia Romero passed away precisely as she lived- peacefully, gracefully, and surrounded by her family.
In passing, Ersilia has joined her husband of 56 years, Horacio Romero, infant son John Christopher, parents Aurelia and Liberato Romero and numerous other family members and loved ones.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Inez (Tom) Lopez, Marcella (Ivan) Corrales, Isabelle Romero, Roberta (Tim) Irwin, Phillip (Mónica) Romero, her 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and so many nephews, nieces and extended family.
Ersilia was a devoted and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother whose love and compassion was always bestowed on family, friends and neighbors. Ersilia was raised and lived most of her life in Vadito and Pojoaque, NM, where her home was always open to loved ones and strangers alike. She loved to laugh, dance, share stories, spend time in the mountains and attend family sporting events. Ersilia had many interests and talents, which she eagerly shared with others. She could often be found volunteering around the community, traveling with Horacio to visit family, and simply enjoying a good conversation. In her final days, always selfless, she asked her children “Will you help me help others?” May her strength, grace and charity live on through all of us!
