Mary Louise Borrego

Mary Louise Madrid Borrego, age 90, of Espanola, NM passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 18, 2024. She was born on December 6, 1933, in Santa Cruz, NM to Jose Ignacio and Donelia Lujan Madrid. At the age of five she began living with her grandparents Patricio and Elvira Lujan. She lived in the San Pedro community 85 years.

 Mary Louise lived each day with her strong faith and care for her family and community. She devoted much of her time to the Iglesia Santa Cruz de la Canada Holy Cross Church. A member over 40 years with the Altar and Rosary Society which she served as president for several years. For over 40 plus years she was the celedora of the Holy Family -San Pedro coro #1.

 After graduating from Santa Cruz High School she attended Cosmetology Beauty School in California and obtained her license. Mary was an avid sports enthusiast discussing how her favorite football and basketball teams should strategize. She enjoyed conversing with family and friends. A loving person who lived a full, happy and beautiful life.

 Mary Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; Rumaldo Borrego and daughter Caroleen Borrego. Parents; Jose Ignacio and Donelia Lujan Madrid. Sisters; Helen and Clotario Archuleta, Bernie and Melicendro Naranjo. Half Sisters; Mary and 

Antanacio Montoya, Ascencion and Fred Vigil. Half Brother; Joe Madrid.

In laws; Vicente and Beroniz Borrego, Jose Borrego, Henry Borrego, Ross Borrego, Ruben Borrego, Ernesto and Margie Borrego, Vicentita and James Archuleta, Eliza and Ismael Trujillo, Theresa and Charlie Radosevich, Tony Pacheco, and Delfina Calles Borrego. Beloved uncles, aunts, nephews, niece and cousins.

 Mary is survived by Son, Ruben Borrego and Jeanne Silverberg. Daughter; Kathleen Borrego Martinez and Richard L Martinez. Grandchildren; Ruben Armand and Kelly Borrego, Alana Martinez, Amanda Martinez, and Dominique Borrego. Great grandchildren; Jonathan Borrego and Carter Borrego. Daughter Inlaw; Lupita Mackey. Sisters; Consuelo and Abelino Serrano, Terry and Mark Sanchez, Susan and Gene Lopez. Brother; Gilbert and Shirley Madrid. Inlaws; Placido Borrego (Delfina), Marie Pacheco (Tony), Sally Borrego (Ross), Aurilia Madrid (Joe). First Cousin; Anna Lujan Brady. Many appreciated and loved nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors. 

A special thank you to all who provided loving support over the years.

 A rosary will be recited on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, with a memorial mass following at 11:00am. Interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 10:00am.
