Mary Becker

MARY R. BECKER, 100, a resident of Española, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. In 1931 she moved to Reno, Nevada and consequently made her residence in Carlsbad for several years; she then made Albuquerque her final residence. She enjoyed riding bikes and was always very active and health cautious. At the age of 88 she was still doing 2 mile walks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Ramoncita Alarid; husband, Carl Becker; brothers, Sam, Phillip, Frank and Jake Alarid; sisters, Emma and Sennie Garcia and Frances Branch; sisters-in-law, Aurora, Carise and Josie Alarid; brothers-in-law, Robert and Elias Garcia and Alfonso Branch. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty M. Alarid of Española and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Gilbert Alarid, Dennis Branch, Anthony Alarid, Edward Alarid, Johnny Quintana, Fermin Montoya, honorary pallbearers, William Garcia, Buddy Garcia, and Diego Alarid.
