Mary Elsie Barela

Mary Elsie Barela, 93, a resident of Truchas, NM, passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2023. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Celestino and Pablita Barela, siblings Pat (Carolina), Dennis (Gloria) Barela, Sabinita (Cipriano) Romero, sister-in-law Lorraine Barela, brother-in-law Filemon Romero, special niece Lisa Roybal, and special nephew Antonio Romero.

She is survived by her siblings Cruzita Romero and Richard Barela, daughter Loyola Cleo Martinez (Jimmy), grand-daughters Nichole (Ben) and Angela (Daniel) Martinez, God-children Willie Barela, Pablita Barela, Laura Vigil, Eileen Huffman and Rose Barela.  Very special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to include Joshua Romero and Linda Barela.

Special thank you to her caregiver Christine Keene, Mary Trujillo, Roseanne Martinez and the rest of the El Centro Clinic.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:00 am at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with a Devotional Service to follow.  Burial will take place at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas, NM, following the service.
