Mary Baca

SUSIE MARY BACA, 53, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose B. and Margarita Baca; son, Paul Baca; sisters, Ruby Atencio and Bennie Zapata and brother, Juan Baca. Susie loved the outdoors, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She liked listening to music, especially Spanish and oldies. She had a special granddaughter, Kimberly, who she called “Big Bear”. She opened her doors to all her family and friends and gave them whatever they needed. She had a big heart. Ms. Baca is survived by her daughter, Michelle Sisneros and husband Davey of Española; son, Freddy Baca of Española; companion, Lorenzo Gutierrez of La Petaca; brothers and sisters, Dan V. Baca and wife Eva of Ohkay Owingeh, Ray Baca and wife Bertha of Chamita, Raymond Baca of Española, Casiano “Nino” Baca of Española, Berline Padilla and husband Leo Sr. of Española, Mary Martinez and husband Tony Sr. of Ranchitos and Brenda Mendez and husband Artemio of Española; grandchildren, Kimberly, Marylynn, Alyssa, Davey Paul, Andre and Cruz; aunt, Esther Villa of El Duende; uncles, Emilio Baca of Española and Tony Atencio and wife Lourdes of El Duende; God-mother, Floraine Atencio of Chamita; very special niece, Peggy Atencio and companion Francisco Tapia of Ohkay Owingeh; special nephews, Angelo Padilla of Española and Manuel Baca and wife Angie of Ohkay Owingeh and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to follow at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Adrian Atencio, Manuel Baca, Tony Martinez Jr., Danny Baca Jr., Roy Baca, Albert Gutierrez, Anthony Baca and Angelo Padilla. Honorary pallbearers named are all her grandchildren and Margarita and Sylvia Zapata, Samantha Atencio, Angel Padilla, Lillian Baca and Eric Nuttall. Donations may be made to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. The Baca family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
