Mary - Age 89 - Chimayo - Vasquez

Mary Vasquez, 89, a resident of Chimayo passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, May 30, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jose Elias Vasquez; daughter, Maria de Lourdes Garcia; granddaughter, Norma Jean Vasquez; parents, Nabor and Rosana Cortez; in-laws: Jose Elias and Maria Vasquez; Mary is survived by her children: Rosanna Lujan and husband Moises, Joe Vasquez and wife Jeannie, Elena Marquez and husband Gerardo; grandchildren: Moises Lujan, Stephanie Weedman, Melva Lujan, Cathy Herrera, Diahann Jacquez, Joseph Vasquez and Felice Balliet; great-grandchildren: Michelle Talamante, David Lujan, Matthew Lujan, Melanie, John, and Denise Vasquez, Lucas and Jeremiah Jacquez and Elisa Lujan; great-great-grandchildren: Destinee, Layla and Gabriel Talamante; siblings: Teresa Martinez, Viola Roybal, Nabor Cortez; sister-in-law, Maria Herrera; very special friend whom she loved like a daughter, Antoinette Garcia; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will take place at a later date at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery with the follow serving the family as pallbearers: Moises Lujan, Joseph Vasquez, Matthew Lujan, Lucas Jacquez, Jeremiah Jacquez and Alonzo Herrera. Honorary pallbearers named are Jerome Jacquez, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family of Mary Vasquez have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
