Marvin - Age 66 - Vadito - MacAuley

Marvin W. MacAuley, 66, a well-known resident of Vadito, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don; parents, McIvor and Greta; father-in-law, Marcelino and mother-in-law, Margarita Romero. He came to New Mexico as a logger in 1972. He met Clara at the Forest Service and remained in the Peñasco area. Marvin also worked as a miner for the highway department and in the propane industry. He shared his love of fishing and the outdoors with his son, Marvin, Jr. When Marvin was not home working in his large garden, he could be found at a nearby casino or drinking coffee and sharing the news with his buddies at Alicia’s Café, which he and his family operated over the years. Marvin loved to visit and always had a shocking or funny story to share. People would come from miles around to visit with Marvin and enjoy Clara and Alice’s great cooking. Marvin had many friends who supported him during his illness with visits and phone calls. His grandchildren always brought a sparkle to his eye, a smile to his face and when we were lucky enough, a good natured chuckle. He let them know everyday how much he loved them. Marvin was a dedicated, husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, mentor and friend. His sense of humor and friendship will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Clara; son, Marvin and wife Anita; daughter, Alice and husband Conrad; granddaughters, Ariana, Maricela, Analise MacAuley and Mia Archuleta; grandson, Marcelino Archuleta and special niece, Sofia and husband Roy Lopez all of Vadito; brothers, Charlie and wife Lorraine, Doug and wife Beth and sister-in-law, Joan of Saskatchewan, Canada. He is also survived by numerous other family members and good friends and neighbors. A rosary will be recited on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. also at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial to follow at a later date. The family of Marvin W. MacAuley has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
