Marlene E. Course, 57, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ercinia and David T. Ortiz; sister, Amy Sanchez, Christine Gauna; aunt Lydia Martinez. She enjoyed her job at LANL. She loved her 3 granddaughters which she called her “Girls”. She loved gardening, astronomy and tending to her flowers. According to her kids she made great ribs and red chili. Marlene is survived by her daughter, Samantha Garcia (Robbie Garcia) of Albuquerque, son, David Course (Samuel Lopez) of Albuquerque, Michael Ryan Course of Chimayo; brother, Gerald Ortiz (Yvonne) of Chimayo, twin sister, Darlene Gosser (Thomas) of Alaska, Sally Eres (Luis) of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Robbie S. “Tubbers” Garcia, Jennalee, Breanna, and Christina Sandoval; half-sister, Anggie Sena of Chimayo; dear aunt, Marie Roybal; two dear friends, Minnie Miera and Denise Moreland; Vicky Martinez (Anthony) whom she considered like her daughter. Public visitation will begin on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Chimayo, with the following serving as pallbearers Robbie Garcia Jr., Esteban Lucero, James Gosser, Anthony Martinez, Gerald Ortiz and Jeremy Ortiz, honorary pallbearers Thomas Gosser, Bethany Davenport, Anthony Gosser, Chris Gauna, Marla Eres, Alexandria Ortiz and Louie Eres. The family of Marlene E. Course has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
