Marissa - Age 19 - Alcalde Martinez

Marissa R. Martinez, 19, a resident of Alcalde, NM, born June 29, 1994 passed away Wednesday morning July, 10 2013 in a tragic car accident. She is preceeded in death by her boyfriend, Eric Romero; grandfather, Patricio Martinez; great-grand fathers, Leopoldo Gonzales, Augustine Bustos and Faustin Trujillo; great-grand mothers, Eulemia Trujillo, Lorencita Velarde, and Lucy Bustos. Marissa graduated from Espanola High School with the class of 2012. She was a cheerleader and basketball player at Alcalde Elementary. In junior high school she was snow ball princess and in high school, joined the ROTC. Marissa was a very fun, loving and energetic person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She had the most incredible eyes and smile. Everyone she met instantly loved her. Her outgoing personality was one of her many great qualities. She would always try and comfort those who needed comforting and could always make a person laugh. She loved her brothers more than anything and adored her only niece, Melorie Martinez and her mother, Crystal. Marissa is survived by her baby daughter, Aubriee Anna who was born on June 24, 2013 five days before her 19th birthday; mother, Linda Madrid and husband Eric of Alcalde; father, Louis Martinez of Los Angeles, California; grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Bustos of Alcalde, and Connie Martinez of Santa Cruz; great-grandmother, Benilde Gonzales of San Francisco, California; brothers, Robert Martinez of Alcalde and Randy Martinez of Albuquerque; uncles, Robert (Bobby) Bustos and Elysha of Fairview, Armando Martinez and Rosie of Santa Cruz, Larry Martinez and Sylvia of Santa Fe, Paul Martinez and Bernice of Espanola, Patrick Martinez of Espanola; aunts, Sheila Rivera and Gilbert of Espanola, Virginia Baca of Santa Fe, Antoinette Padilla and Ted of Ojo Caliente; special friends, Isaiah Salazar, Veronica Salazar and Ricky Bustos and numerous other friends and cousins. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at La Vallita Cemetery in Alcalde.
