MARILYN MAY PEEK

Marilyn May Peek passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on November 26, 2024, after a long and happy life.
Marilyn May was born on July 7, 1930, in Amherst Ohio to Ferryl Foster May and Roscoe Lee May.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Janet Sweeley, brother Ralph May, and nephew Steven Sweeley. The May family moved from Amherst to Xenia, Ohio when Marilyn was three, and lived in Xenia throughout Marilyn’s childhood. Marilyn graduated from Xenia High School and then from The Ohio State University, where she was active in the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Marilyn married James Peek on September 23, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, and promptly moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. James and Marilyn lived in Albuquerque from 1962 to 1986, and then moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where they resided for the rest of their lives. James passed away in June, 2024 after 61 years of marriage.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Cassandra Peek (Paige Lillard, currently of Seattle) and Corinne Peek-Asa (David Asa, currently of San Diego) and two granddaughters Nicole Asa (currently of Seattle) and Kristin Asa (currently of Pittsburgh), who adored their grandmother.
Marilyn joined a bridge group of Alpha Delta Pi sisters in 1962, and this group played bridge and shared a strong friendship for over 60 years, playing together through 2021. Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge with several groups in Albuquerque and Los Alamos. James and Marilyn were active in music, going to museums, camping, and hiking. Marilyn played the flute in a community orchestra and for church occasions, as well playing in her church bell choir. Marilyn was active in the Los Alamos United Methodist Church, where she had a wonderful community. Marilyn will be remembered for her good cheer and her infectious laugh.
