Marie Todd

It’s with heavy hearts that the family of Marie (Maria) A. Todd announce her passing. She left this world peacefully late Monday evening, January 6th in her home in White Rock N.M. She was 95 years old. The first of eight children, Marie was born on February 26th, 1929, to Pablo and Alice Saiz in Estancia, NM. 

She spent her early years in Estancia before moving to Albuquerque where she attended business school. There she would work multiple jobs at the same time including working for the Alvarado Hotel. During this period in her life, she met her future husband Billy. She married Billy Todd on May 2, 1956, in Albuquerque N.M.

Marie and Billy spent the first part of their marriage living in Albuquerque where their first two children were born. This was followed by three years in Las Vegas, NV for Billy’s work. During that time, their third child arrived. Upon returning to Albuquerque, they welcomed their fourth child. In 1963, the Todd Family moved to Los Alamos, NM where Billy began his career with LANL. Marie was busy raising their four children and taking work outside the home.

She was part of many organizations throughout her life in Los Alamos. Marie was very active in The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was also part of many community organizations which included The American Legion Auxiliary, Eight and Forty, Girls State, Poppy Days and March of Dimes. She loved donating her time and energy to running the snack bar for the annual Gem Show. After retirement, she enjoyed her White Rock Jazzercise classes, Line Dancing at the Senior Center and her daily 3 mile walks. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy and her son, Duwayne Todd. She is survived by three children, Paula (Tim) Nichols, Roberta Reinhardt, Tim (Vicki) Todd, Linda Cooper, dear friend of the family and her youngest brother, Leo Saiz. Seven grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron, Breanna, Jaclynn, Erica, Larrisa and Billy. Nine great grandchildren, Hailey, Aubrey, Penelope, Corben, Cooper, Lara, August, Nathan and Rafael.

Marie cared about and loved many and in returned was cared about and loved by all that knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and her numerous friends. 

There will be a Rosary at 10:00 am, followed by a 10:30 am Mass at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Los Alamos Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
