Marie Naranjo

Marie Patricia Naranjo, Kayo P'swa, 79, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Fortuna Cata, son, Clifford Cata, daughter Sarah Viarreal, son-in-law Johnny Viarreal, brothers Bernard and Tommy Cata, sister Crucita Cruz, sister-in-law Margaret Cata, and ex-husband and best friend Santiago Naranjo. Marie retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory as a custodian after 20 years of service at CMR. After her retirement, she enjoyed going to ceramics, the casino, gardening, taking care of her yard, attending the senior center, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Marie is survived by her children Phyllis Martinez (Roy), Janice Naranjo, Santiago Naranjo and Sandra Talache; sisters, Avenecia Cata, Rose Povijua (Peter), Mary Valencia (Frank); Grandchildren April Viarreal (Jacob), Heather Naranjo (Jeff), Amanda Scheuermann (Nolan), Victoria Viarreal (Bear), John Viarreal (Brianne), Marco Talache, Amber Naranjo, Ashley Martinez, Jennifer Martinez, Isaiah Viarreal, and Santiago Naranjo III; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Wally, Ayden, Darrian, Mylan, Rhiannon, Drake, Marcus, Natalia, Nathaniel, Ayson, Juan, Nehemiah, Solei, Taylor, Summer, one on the way and numerous relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited at the home of Craig and Thelma Calvert (222 North Yucca St., Ohkay Owingeh), Friday, December 28 at 5 and 6pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Ohkay Owingeh, at 7am, Saturday, December 29, 2018
