MARIE “BELEN” CHACON-GARCIA, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, December 27, 2016 at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  Marie was born in Espanola and lived most of her life in Lower San Pedro, New Mexico, before moving to Hawaii and then later to San Antonio, T.X.  Her greatest joys in life were her family, as she was a cherished daughter, a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, step grandmother, step great grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and loyal friend.  She was an avid baker and cook.  She was skilled in arts and crafts, crocheting, antiquing and collecting chimes.  She loved to spend time at the casinos with her friends.  She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, meeting and talking to people with a captivating sparkle in her eyes.  She was always enthusiastic about going to swap meets, her favorite, the Honolulu Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.  Her love for nature, from caring for all animals to her green thumb with a variety of plants flourishing was a rare talent that few possess.  She was a basketball and little league sports fan known for not missing a San Antonio SPURS basketball game when it was shown on T.V.  Belen will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.  Belen is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Ignacita Chacon; brothers Melvin Chacon, Bobby Chacon; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Chacon, Diane Chacon; son-in-law Robert Saiz; niece Gina Chacon-Lucero, and nephew Jeff Garcia.  Belen is survived by her daughters Wanda Garcia-Keenan (James), Yvonne Garcia-Martinez; grandchildren Bobby Martinez (Steve), Elena Keenan and Dalys Saiz from San Antonio, T.X.; James, Tanisha, Mathew and Daniel Keenan from Rodgers, Arkansas.  Sisters JoAnn Chacon, Sandra Chacon, brothers Johnny Chacon (Theresa) of Espanola, N.M., and Leroy Chacon of Santa Fe, N.M.; very close great niece Angel Chacon, ten step great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.  A celebration of Belen’s life will be held on February 11, 2017 at the Zion Worship Center in Pojoaque, N.M. at 1:00p.m.
