MARIA A. MONTAÑO

March 8, 1939 to September 14, 2024

On September 14, 2024, Maria Montaño passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was 85 years old. Maria was born in Truchas, New Mexico and spoke often of the many fond memories she had while growing up there. Her family moved to Santa Fe when she was 16 years old. Maria and her husband Gabriel had 7 children. She was known by neighbors and friends for her quirky, fun sense of humor. 

She is predeceased in death by her husband of 49 years, Gabriel Montaño, her parents, Jose F. Martinez and Adelia Armijo; brothers, Tiburcio “Ray” Martinez; Philip (Martha) Martinez and Harold Martinez.

She is survived by her brother John (Tilly) Martinez, Danny (Margie) Martinez and her loving children; Judith (Ralph) Flores; Joanna (Antonio) Abeyta; Lawrence (Cynthia) Montaño; Gloria (Leroy) Urioste: Gerald Montaño; Manuel (Daisy) Montaño and Vandie (Jesse) Delgado. Her Grandchildren; Phillip Ortega; Vanessa Garcia; Anna Rivera; Rebecca (Waylen) Jones; Diamond Montaño; Joaquin Montaño; Adelia Montaño, 5 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild and many beloved nieces and nephews.
