Maria G. Herrera, 93 a resident of Cleveland, NM and formerly from Chamisal, NM passed away peacefully at her home due to a short illness with her family by her side on Saturday, March 28, 2015.\r\n She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years: Gilbert Herrera; daughter: Elsie Herrera; sons: Ralph and William Herrera; mother: Maria Luz Abeyta-Martinez; in-laws: Jose Pedro Herrera and Maria Inez Cordova; two infant daughters; sister and brothers.\r\n Maria is survived by daughters: Lydia Romero (Orlando) of Santa Fe, NM; Helen DeHerrera (Joseph) of Cleveland, NM; sons: Gilbert Herrera (Helen) of Chamisal, NM; Eloy Herrera (Rose Marie) from Albuquerque, NM; two-daughters-in-law: Dora Herrera of Price, UT and Sophie Herrera of Grants, NM; brother-in-law: Flavio Herrera of Price, UT; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson all whom she treasured; numerous: nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives who are too numerous to count.\r\n A lifetime catholic she was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Peñasco, NM. Maria was a great gardner, Cook, baker and food preserver. The stuff she made was enjoyed by everyone and will be truly missed. She loved spending time with her family and made sure nobody ever left without a full stomach.\r\n Rosary services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 4:00pm at St. Anthony’s Church in Peñasco, NM. Funeral services will be held immediately following the Rosary with Father Simeon Wimmershoff as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Chamisal Cemetery in Chamisal, NM with the following serving as Casket bearers: Yolanda Gutierrez; Yvonne Herrera, Selina Herrera, Sharon Herrera, Jennifer N. Gallegos and Carolyn Mader. Serving as Honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren.\r\n
