GONZALESAge 104, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 following a brief illness. Maria was born in Cañada de los Alamos on August 15, 1905 to Albino Abeyta and Apolonia Vigil. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sabino Gonzales; sons, Ernest and Sammy Gonzales; her parents; sister, Rafaelita Ortiz; brothers, Salvador Abeyta and Pedro Vigil y Ortiz; in-laws, Jesus and Cruzita Gonzales; daughters-in-law, Carmen V. Gonzales and Vicky Chavez. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her children, Cirilo F. Gonzales of Apple Valley, CA, Alfonso Gonzales and wife Cora of Santa Fe, Joe Elfego Gonzales and wife Enriqueta of Glorieta, Gilbert Gonzales and wife Lucille of Pojoaque, Stella of Glorieta, Sister Angelina Gonzales of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, Jessie Kowalski and husband Jim of Hacienda Heights, CA, Gloria Fresques and husband Jake of Cuartelez; daughter-in-law, Jean Gonzales of Glorieta; first cousin, Joe G. Ortiz of Santa Fe; 24 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other close relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos with a rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos with Father Jerry Johnson as celebrant and her grandson, Father Ron D. Gonzales S.J. as con-celebrant. Burial to follow at the Cañoncito Catholic Cemetery in Apache Canyon with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, Sammy and Arthur Gonzales, Mark and Jacob Fresques, Frank and Johnny Gonzales and Ernie Gonzales Jr. Honorary pallbearers named are all remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The Gonzales family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n
