Amy was born September 12, 1932, in Fairview, New Mexico, to the late Esquipula and Corina Martinez. She was the oldest of five children. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; Esquipula and Benita Martinez, Brothers Victor Martinez, Avaran Martinez, Albert Martinez and sister Corina Mainez. In-laws, Frank and Aurelia Sanchez; sister, Mary Rodriquez, Pauline Ledoux, Madeline Martinez and Lucy Papez, brother Pete Sanchez, Ray Sanchez and Frank Sanchez.

Amy was married to the late James Sanchez and leaves to cherish her loving memory to her son, Michael Sanchez and wife Judy and Steven Sanchez; grandkids Chris Sanchez and Mariah; sister Esther (Nino) Martinez and brother Jerry Martinez (Corina); sister-in-law Isabel Shaffer. and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Thanks to Dolores Gonzales (niece) and Patsy for supporting our family during her last days at the hospital and care center, also thanks to Judy, Annette, Jody, Stella, Esther and Benita for being there for her.

Amy professed her life to Christ at an early age, she is a member of the Holy Cross Church. She loved working in the church as a catechism teacher. 

Amy loved to read her bible, praying for and with others daily, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. 

Amy was also a caretaker for her son Steven as long as her life permitted, she was strong in this way, she will be dearly missed.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, with Mass to follow at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM.  Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

Serving as Pallbearers are Christopher Sanchez, Jerry Martinez, Jody Archuleta, Manuel Muniz, David Archuleta and Matthew Romero.
