Margery Will Wolfe

d. June 20, 2024

Margery Will Wolfe was born to Don and Pauline Will on July 18, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the second of three girls. She died at the age of 93 in Los Alamos, NM, on April 5, 2024. Marge lived a life of love, laughter, service, and adventure, making lifelong friends in every community in which she lived.

Marge met the love of her life, Pete Wolfe, while taking dance classes as a young teenager. They dated throughout high school and college and were married in 1951. The following year, Marge graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing therapy. She taught for three years and founded the speech and hearing program at the Bexley Schools in Columbus, Ohio.

Marge and Pete spent the next 20 years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they raised three girls. Marge was active in the garden club, became a Girl Scout leader, and helped start a small local library. In the summers, she enjoyed family camping trips, swimming, and tending her garden.

In 1975 the Wolfe family moved to Los Alamos. Marge joined the hospitality committee at the Unitarian church and started teaching First Aid and CPR for the American Red Cross. She became a Red Cross Disaster Services Coordinator, organizing meals and lodging for firefighters during several wildfires. Marge also volunteered with the Pajarito Ski Patrol, where she cared for injured skiers in the first aid hut at the foot of the mountain. She was active at the Betty Ehart Senior Center from its inception, and for several years she enjoyed working at the reception desk.

Marge and Pete travelled the world together, exploring the Caribbean and cruising through Scandinavia, Europe, and the Panama Canal. They enjoyed visiting their children in California, Kansas, and Ohio and welcomed six grandchildren and one great grandson. Marge always looked forward to returning home to New Mexico and insisted on spending her final years in the community she loved.

Marge is survived by her sister, Donna Warnke; her daughters, Lynda Wolfe, Barbara Finch, and Susan Smith (Greg); her grandchildren, Ross Wolfe, Emily Finch, Lauren Ulrich, Meghan Wolfe (Juanta), Dylan Finch, and Alex Smith (Brittany); and her great grandson, Jeraiah Sol Wolfe. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Wolfe, and her sister, Patricia Will.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos, 1738 North Sage Street, at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 20th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marge's name to the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos (www.uulosalamos.org/giving) or the Betty Ehart Senior Center (www.larso.org/donate).
