MARGARET BELEN HERRERA, 84, a resident of Chamita, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Aurora, raised by Alfredo and Dolorez; ex-husband, Cresencio; and her partner later in life, Joe. Margaret loved to work on her garden and was a very good cook. She enjoyed her family gatherings at her home. She was devoted to her puppies and cat and was a very active lady. She loved the outdoors and loved to fish. Margaret was a devoted catholic keeping her hour of adoration weekly and praying for blessings for all her family. Margaret is survived by her children, Chris J. Herrera (Patsy), Francisco Pancho Herrera (Becky), Mitch Herrera, Dolores C. Martinez (Jake), Terese Herrera (Philly); granddaughters raised by her, Jessica Martinez Aragon (Ernie), Amber Trujillo, and great-granddaughter, Taylyne Aragon; grandchildren, Kim, Renee, Anthony, Paul, Annaliza, Arturo, Chris, Shaleen, Kevin; and many more great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; close cousin, Rufina Romero and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Española with the following serving the family as pallbearers; Anthony, Paul, Kimberly, Renee, Annaliza and Amber, honorary pallbearers, Troy, Aaron, Tristen, Kevin, Alicia, Ryan and Alejandro. The family of Margaret Belen Herrera has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
