Margaret Maria Giron

On October 30, 2023, Margaret M. Giron, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and best friend to many many people. She passed peacefully with her children at her side as she entered her heavenly home.

Margaret is preceded in death by her father Benito Montoya; mother Elvira Montoya; sister Maria Montoya and Velma Velasquez; father-in-law Eduardo Giron; mother-in-law Adeliria Serrano Giron; brother John Montoya, Joe Griego; Father Sabine Griego; son Paul Giron Jr.; son-in-law Joseph Salazar; brothers-in-law Eddie Giron and Ernie Terran; sisters-in-law Claudia Giron, Connie Palacio, Martha Brown and Sophie Valdez.

Margaret is survived by husband Paul Giron; sons Charles Giron and Eddie Giron; daughters Julie Salazar (Carlos Griego) and Debbie Campos (LeRoy); grandson Joseph Salazar (fiancé Faye Duran), Frankie Giron, Samantha Giron (Evan Jaramillo), Andrea Leyba (Jacob), LeRoy Campos III (Chelsey Montano) and Adelita Campos (Cedric Patterson); great-grandchildren Leandro, Mia, Josiah, Jocelyn, Antonio, Callie Jo, Brooklyn, Kenna, Payton, Ezryanna, Jaylynn, Paizlee, August and Uriah; brothers and sisters Max and Doris Montoya, Marcella Pittsford, Anita and Joe Jaramillo, Pat and Ronnie Montoya and Ramon Terran; sister-in-law Lena Griego; and aunt that was like a sister Nestorita Montoya.

Margaret was born on the San Juan Bridge with her twin Maria and was raised in La Madera, NM.  She married Paul Giron on May 2, 1964, and was blessed with 5 beautiful children Charles, Paul Jr., Eddie, Julie, Debbie and a grandson Frankie that was raised by Margaret and Paul as their own.  Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of 14 who were the light and joy of her life.  Mary Jane was a friend and her caretaker.  Margaret was loved and cherished by anyone she met and became instant friends.

She will be missed by all and will be remembered for the great loving woman she was.

A Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 12:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.  A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente, NM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am.  A Private Burial take place at later date.

Serving as Pallbearers are all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
