Manuel Salvador Arellano, age 82, born on May 5, 1930 in Llaves, New Mexico. Passed away on October 21, 2012, at his home in Capulin, NM surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness. Manuel attended schools in Arroyo Blanco and Regina, New Mexico. He married Maria O. Chavez of Capulin, NM. On December 26, 1949 in Gallina. They celebrated 62 plus yrs of marriage. He worked in the Gallina area for the logging industry and local sawmill, Santa Fe National Forest, and as a carpenter for many years. In 1978 he moved to Green River, WY. He worked for the Carpenters Union and for the Trona Mining Industry for FMC Corporation where he retired after 13yrs of service in 1992. Mr. Arellano is survived by his loving wife Maria of Gallina; and his sons, Roberto Fidel and wife Angie of Green River, WY., Mike and wife Teresa of Gallina, NM., Chris and wife Denise of Green River, WY., Raymond and wife Corina of Albuquerque, NM., Floyd and wife Vicki of Morongo Valley, CA. and Manuel Jr. of Gallina, and his three daughters, Sussie and husband Daniel Shellman of Green River, WY., Karen and husband Raul Muñoz of Green River, WY., Leona and husband Joe Dallmann of Rio Rancho, NM., 27 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Jacobo Arellano and one sister, Rose Cordova of Gallina and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, God children, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. A family he treasured. Mr Arellano had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed traveling, playing guitar, singing, building things, camping, hunting, fishing and working on his ranch, Piñon Ridge in La Tableta. He served his community of Gallina under various capacities. He was instrumental in building and maintaining the water association at the Upper Capulin. He served as a forest fire-fighter for the National Forest Service. His greatest passion was playing guitar and singing with the church choir and other occasions. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina and Santo Niño Catholic Church in Capulin, he also became a member of the Knights of Columbus while also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River, WY. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Salvador Arellano; two grandsons and numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Arellano, Antonio Muñoz, D.J. Shellmann, Ricky Pierson, Leonard Arellano and Garrett Arellano. Honorary pallbearers will be Derrell Arellano, Marcos Muñoz, Gaiten Arellano, Christopher Dallmann, Donovan Shellmann and his six sons. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina with burial to follow at Capulin Cemetery in Gallina.
