MANUELITA CASTILLO, 88, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dionicio Castillo, Sr.; sons, Dionicio Castillo, Jr., Antonio L., Charlie and Michael Castillo; brothers, Delfido, Johnny, Eppie and Ermelindo Carrillo. Manuelita was born on November 16, 1922 to Demetrio Carrillo and Maria Librada Hurtado in Las Gallinas. She was married to Dionicio Castillo, Sr. in December 1935. She was a very strong woman and a role model to all her children. She loved to cook and sew and was a catholic member of Our Lady of Sorrow Church. She had plenty of love for all her grandchildren which she helped raise. Mrs. Castillo is survived by her children, Florian Castillo and wife Molly, Pedro Castillo, Mauricio Castillo and Amy, Romy Sandoval and husband Octavio, Maria Castillo, Ida Lopez, Consuelo Lopez and husband Michael and Michelle Espinoza and husband Gustavo Espinoza; sisters, Carmen Gonzales, Corina Tenorio and Lupe Montaño and husband Manuel; step-daughters, Violinda Lucero and Martina Saiz; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas with Father George Salazar as celebrant. Burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following serving as pallbearers, Devion Poolman, Florian Castillo, Jr., Joe Castillo, Michael E. Lopez, Fernando Lopez, David Lovato, Mauricio Castillo, Jr., Carlos Castillo, Adrian Lopez and Steve Herrera. Eulogy will be read by Michael E. Lopez.
