MANUEL SANCHEZ, 84, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Espiridion and Fedelina Sanchez; sisters, Adonelia and her husband Frank Serrano and Octaviana Sanchez; niece, Faye Davis; nephews, Stephen and Carlos Sanchez. Manuel loved all his family and enjoyed going to the senior citizens center. He loved working on his father’s ranch, singing, praying and really loved being an Hermano of Confradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his sister, Porfiria Urioste and husband James of Santa Fe; brother, Levi Sanchez and wife Mary of Abiquiu; nieces and nephews, Marie Millsap and husband Ed, Emma Baird and husband Len, Frank Serrano and wife Alice, Marcella and husband Joe Romero and James Urioste and Nora Urioste; long-term caregiver, Alicia and Blancaflor Muñoz abd numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Española with the following serving as pallbearers, Ralph and Andrew Casados, Anthony, Aaron and Andres Sanchez, Mario Sanchez and Blancaflor Muñoz.
