Manuel (Tico, Manny, Manuelito) Vigil born on July 17, 1981, passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 43. He was a resident of Albuquerque for the past 5 years living with his cousin Jennifer. Manuel was a native of Chimayo.
Manuel was preceded in death by his dad Bert Vigil; aunt Ida Mae Stevens; grandparents Manuel and Elsie Manzanares and Bonifacio and Juanita Vigil; cousins Jamie Vigil, Joseph Rendon and uncle, Richard Garcia.
Manuel is survived by his mom Chanda (Leroy); sister Juanita, Nieces Alexis Vigil (Sam) and Victoria Vigil Duran. Also, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Manuel was a diehard Dallas COWBOYS fan, he loved hunting, fishing and the beautiful outdoors.
Manuel is well known for his charismatic personality, his ability to have a conversation with a total stranger and within a few minutes they were friends and a great sense of humor. When Manuel was in high school, I met up with one of his teachers. Ticos mom asked how he was doing in her class and she said great. She mentioned the one day when he was in class, he got a phone call saying our cows were in the main Chimayo Road, so I dismissed him early. I looked at Tico then looked at his teacher and said that's funny because we don't have cows. The teacher laughed so hard and said that was the best excuse she had heard in her teaching career. Manuel was a father figure to both Alexis and Victoria. He wanted so much for them to be happy, to work hard, to get a good education and to be successful. Manuel was an amazing brother to Juanita, like most siblings they had a love hate relationship. Loving most of the time. His love for his family was genuine. Manuel was a hard worker. Since he was very young, he was outside by his dad’s side helping to plant gardens, irrigating, and harvesting their fruits and vegetables. Manuel was small in stature, but he stood tall in love and happiness. Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Silva, Dominic Manzanares, Andres Coriz, Guillermo Vigil, Juan Muniz, Gerald Montoya, Santiago Vigil and Cody Stevens.
