Manuel - Age 97 - Arroyo Hondo Martinez

MANUEL “B.B.” MARTINEZ, 97, a resident of Arroyo Hondo, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Urias Martinez; brothers, Alfidio, Pablo, Valentine and Tomas; sisters, Corina, Utimia, Ernestina and Rebecca. He was a lifelong resident of Arroyo Hondo and also a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mr. Martinez held various fields of occupation, his last being school custodian of Arroyo Hondo Elementary School, where he retired from. He had a passion for ranching and farming and had a strong work ethic. He will be dearly missed. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Veronize Martinez of Arroyo Hondo; children, Uvaldo Martinez and wife Mary of Denver, Robert Martinez and wife Ruby of Seattle, Washington, Adelmo Martinez and wife Pat of Englewood, Colorado, Lloyd Martinez and wife Carol of Seattle, Washington, Jose Arnoldo Martinez and wife Theresa, Claudio Martinez and wife Linda all of Arroyo Hondo, Annabelle Stiger and husband Walter of Denver and Pauline Heva and husband Richard of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:00 also at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo. Burial to follow at the Rael Cemetery in Arroyo Hondo. The family of Manuel “B.B.” Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
