Maida (Magdalena) - age 84 - La Mesilla Garcia

Maida Garcia (Magdalena), 84, a resident of La Mesilla, formerly of Monrovia CA., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at her home in La Mesilla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Garcia of Los Luceros; son, Alfonso Garcia Jr.; parents, Teofila and Jose Vialpando of Canones; brothers, Isais (Joe), Juan, Jose de Leon, Lonecio, sister, Vera Martinez, as well as many other friends and relatives. Maida was a woman of grace who loved to cook and dance, she is loved by all and will be deeply missed. Maida is survived by her daughter, Lucille and husband Steve Delapenha of La Verne, CA. son, Joseph Peter Garcia of Monrovia, CA, daughter, Deborah Garcia of La Mesilla; brother, Richard Vialpando and wife Amada, Maida was grandmother to five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A mass of intention will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass and burial will be held at the National Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, CA at a later date. The family of Maida Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
