Magdalena "Maggie" Age - 65 - Chami Romero

Magdalena “Maggie” Romero, 65, a resident of Chamita went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 16, 2012. Maggie’s education and many talents led her to work for Zia Company (LANL) and also as a Dental Assistant, Cosmetologist, and Substance Abuse Health Coordinator, and she retired from the City of Española as a Children’s Librarian. Her pride and joy were her children and 2 special granddaughters whom she helped raise. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Virginia Martinez; maternal grandparents: Nicolas and Beroniz Lopez, Julian and Magdalena Sanchez; paternal grandparents: Florentino and Elefia Martinez; ; brothers: Rudy and Martin Romero nephews: Michael Ortiz and Jayden Martinez. Maggie is survived by her son, Jason P. Romero and companion Michelle Whetsell of Española; daughter, Yvette M. Vigil and husband Ben of Española; special granddaughters: Virginia and Deandra Archuleta; grandchildren: Matthew and Jeremiah Vigil, Jamie and Kristina Arguello; brothers & sisters: Lita R. Ortiz and husband Gabriel of Las Vegas, NM; Annette Martinez and Lester Casias of Chamita, Tony P. Martinez of Los Lunas, Joe Romero of La Junta, CO; Teresa Palacio and husband Carmen of Denver, Co; uncle, Abran Lopez of Hernandez; aunts: Katie Ortiz, Benita Rodriguez and Ramona (Stormy) Igalo all of Santa Fe; 7 godchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; many other loving relatives, friends and neighbors. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at De Vargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a celebration of her life to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Gabriel Ortiz officiating. Burial will take place at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., serving as a pallbearer will be, Tony Martinez; honorary pallbearers: Virginia and DeAndra Archuleta.
