LYDIA U. ARCHULETA, 76, a resident of Cebolla, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home with her loving husband and family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Miguel and Jesusita Ulibarri and brother, Gerald Ulibarri. Lydia graduated from Provo Utah Nursing School and enjoyed a very successful career in Nursing. She was very passionate about getting people healthy and back on their feet. Lydia and David were currently the Mayrodomos of the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Cebolla. She was also involved in 4-H for over 30 years and a board member of the Nora Electric Cooperative for 24 years. Lydia enjoyed traveling and meeting people. She was dedicated to her family and attended all of her grandchildren’s functions; she always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Lydia was currently the president of the Rincon Blanco Club and enjoyed planning and greeting people for the Annual Steak Fry. She was a dedicated supporter of the Democratic Rallies and kept up with current events. Lydia was an awesome baker, cook and seamstress. She could make a meal out of anything. Mrs. Archuleta is survived by her husband, David E. Archuleta of Cebolla; children, Geraldine Salaiz and husband Mike of Las Cruces, Ernie Archuleta and wife Cindee of Cebolla, Antoinette Maes and husband Juanito of La Mesilla, David Archuleta and wife Denise of Cebolla and Ula Marie Binion and husband Travis of Cebolla; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; Nathaniel and Melanie Serrano; brother, Michael Ulibarri; sisters, Libby Martinez and husband Johnny, Teddy Archuleta and husband Mike and Mary Miller and husband Robert. Public visitation will begin on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Cebolla. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Cebolla. Burial to follow at the Cebolla Catholic Cemetery with the following grandchildren serving as pallbearers, Carlos Vigil, Bo Binion, Daniel Maes, Anthony Cordova, Lauren Vigil and Cousin Frank Valdez. Honorary pallbearers named are grandchildren, Isaac Archuleta, Estevan Archuleta, Julia Archuleta, Victoria Maes, Tracie Binion, Rosalyn Salaiz, Amber Salaiz and Cheryl Salaiz. The family of Lydia U. Archuleta has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
