Lydia V. Martinez Romero, age 89, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her son Martin E. Martinez Jr.; granddaughter, JillMarie; grandson, Dominic (Rocky); parents, Elfido and Marina Vigil; sisters, Carmen and Lila; brothers, George, Rosendo and Elfido; and her husband, Joe C. Romero. Lydia is survived by her daughters, Alice Romero (Mike), Cora Roybal (Dennis); daughter in law, Patricia Martinez; sons, Merejildo Martinez (Cathy), Perfecto Martinez (Yvonne), Dennis Martinez (Evelyn), Dean Martinez (Minnie) and Tim Martinez (Danette); grandchildren, Christopher, Donna, Mikell, Mikelynn, Margarita, Carlos, Lisa, Erika, Meghan, Lorenzo, Lydia, James, Daniel and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Abrianna, Martina, Lucas, Arianna, Aliyah and Alessandra; father of her children, Martin Martinez Sr; brothers, Pete, Danny, Joe, Sam, Ramon and Leo along with all their families; and two close cousins, Clara Montoya and Ramona Salazar. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 5:30p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 6:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Espanola. Assisting as pallbearers will be, Christopher Martinez, Mikell Romero, Carlos Martinez, Lorenzo Martinez, James Martinez, Daniel and Aaron Roybal. Honorary pallbearers named are all her grandchildren. The Family of Lydia V.
