Lydia - Age 76 - Dixon - Rodriguez

LYDIA RODRIGUEZ, 76, a lifelong resident of Dixon, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 following a courageous 2.5 year long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Casimira Martinez and son, Louis Rodriguez. She was born on August 23, 1936 in Dixon to George and Casimira Martinez. She married Lafayette Rodriguez on November 22, 1956. She graduated from Peñasco High School in 1955 and went to Denver to further her education. She worked for many years in positions that helped others. She worked at the Embudo Hospital, Los Alamos Hospital and Health Centers of Northern New Mexico until her retirement. Lydia was full of life and loved to dance and listen to music. She cherished her children and friends. Her smile brought joy to those who knew her. She was a fantastic seamstress and sewed quilts, Pendleton coats, embroidered pillow cases and dish towels. She was a great cook and the best biscochito baker. Lydia enjoyed flowers, especially irises and holly hocks. She enjoyed the beauty found in New Mexico and would take long drives to capture the changing of seasons dabbling in photography. Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her husband, Lafayette Rodriguez of Dixon; children, LaVerne Rodriguez of Española and Larry Rodriguez (Isabel) of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Louise Rodriguez of Munford, TN, Crystal Castillo, Jacobo Rodriguez of Rio Rancho and Monte Gutierrez of Española; great-grandson, Armando Dauz of Rio Rancho; sister, Frances Romero (Barolin) of Dixon and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Dixon.
