Lupe Aragon

LUPE MARIE ARAGON, 97, passed away at her home in San Pedro on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was born in Las Vegas, NM, to Juan de Dios and Margarita Kavanaugh. She married Alfredo Aragon, and they had three children: Fred, Margaret and Janet. She also shared in the care of Alfredo’s daughter, Dolores, after his first wife died. During 20 years of marriage, they also raised 7 nephews to help her brother and sister-in-law, who was ill. She graduated from Santa Fe Beauty College and worked as a beautician a short while. She also took care of her mother for the last 8 years of her mother’s life. She was a devout Catholic, a member of Iglesia Santa Cruz, the Holy Family Association and the San Pedro Cenacle Prayer group. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six siblings, daughter, Dolores, son-in-law, Dr. Everett Gibbens, grandchild, Maria Elena Gibbens and nephew, Lonnie Kavanaugh. She is survived by her children, her son-in-law, Carlos, daughter-in-law, Margaret, her grandchildren: Nina McKellar, Valerie Vedda, Vanessa Stackpole, Carlos and Alfredo Ortiz, Christina Taylor, Noble Gibbens, Natasha Amartey, Melina Crain, Miguel, Ricardo, Carlos and Mario Aragon. A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Marie Aragon’s honor to the St. Joseph Manyanet Radio Station in Espanola through Holy Cross Church. The family of Lupe Marie Aragon has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
