Luis Griego

LUIS GRIEGO, 86, a resident of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Luis was preceded in death by his father Silviano Griego, mother Cordelia Griego, brother Willie Griego, sister Maude Madrid, granddaughters Letisha Gallegos and Maria Ann Griego. Luis is survived by his wife of 63 years of marriage Juanita Griego; children Walter Griego (Brenda), Pamela Gallegos (Randy), Jeffrey Griego (Lydia), Jacqueline Bustamante (Robert); grandchildren Marisha Griego, Jessica Griego, Randall Gallegos, Ryan Bustamante (Ashlie), Isaiah Bustamante, Desiree Griego (Stevan), Joshua Griego; great grandchildren Isaiah Gallegos, Jayden Sisneros, Audrina Bustamante, and Scarlett Rae Trujillo. Luis was retired from Johnson Controls where he was a carpenter foreman and member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local Union #1505. Luis loved working with wood, gardening and working his apple orchard and yard. Luis planted his yearly gardens only to spoil his family with fresh vegetables and most importantly his red chile. Luis made a lot of friends where ever he went and loved telling his “chistes” to make everyone laugh. Luis was a loving husband and father and a great inspiration to his family and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the CNAs, nurses, cooks and all the staff at the Espanola Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where Luis was a resident for his last 6 years, along with Del Corazon Hospice, for the friendship, prayers and care they all provided during his stay, especially during his time of need.
Public visitation will begin on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with a burial to follow at the Father Kupper Cemetery in Embudo. Serving as pall bearers are Marisha Griego, Randall Gallegos, Ryan Bustamante, Isaiah Bustamante, Desiree Griego and Joshua Griego.
