LUIS “INDIO” TRIVINO, 74, a resident of Chili, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis Trivino Sr.; mother, Margaret Santa Cruz-Lopez; grandson, Mikey Martinez and nephew, Ricky Medina. Luis was a veteran with the U.S. Navy and later in the U.S. Army, serving with the 101st Airborne Division. He was a proud veteran who fought in the Korean War and later served as an advisor prior to the Vietnam War. Luis enjoyed the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing and camping. He had numerous hobbies that included knife making, bead work, and making Indian jewelry. He was known to be an excellent horse trainer. Mr. Trivino is survived by his wife, Irma Trivino of Chili; children, Luis Trivino Jr. and wife Stephenie of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Trivino and wife Leigh of Taos, Eddie Trivino and wife Christina of Hernandez, Mark Trevino of Austin, Texas, Margaret Trivino-Roybal and husband Martin of Hernandez, Diedra Trivino and Terry Martinez and husband Cosme all of Carlsbad; special adopted sister, Kay Estes of Loving; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Burial to take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Luis, Robert and Eddie Trivino, Martin Roybal, Joseph Galvez and Javier Serna. Honorary pallbearers named are Alejandro Trivino and Randy Rathke.
