Lucille Decoeur

Lucille A. Decoeur, 78, shed her tired body and peacefully answered the call of God to return home on Monday, June 17, 2019.  Lucy was born and raised in Tampa, Florida.  She married and gave birth to five children.  Her youth was spent caring for her children and grandchildren while growing lifelong friendships.  She also opened her home and heart to care for two foster children over the span of three years. She loved and laughed with family and friends and could cook up a feast.  Lucy shared more of her love through her employment where she worked with children with special needs in a residential setting.  After retirement, she moved to Velarde, New Mexico to be closer to her daughter.  Together they had many adventures.  She took employment at Walmart in Espanola where she met many friends.  She enjoyed being a people greeter for nearly ten years and making connections with others.  In her final years, she rested at the home of her daughter and enjoyed unhurried time with her youngest grandchildren, Noah and Mary Elizabeth.  They shared an incredible bond.  Lucy enjoyed animals, eating sweets, drinking Coca Cola, viewing her favorite television shows, eating more sweets, shopping at Walmart, and watching her grandchildren play.  She was independent, strong willed, and a great storyteller.  She would strike up a conversation with anyone who happened to sit next to her and have them engaged and smiling in no time.  She will be dearly missed by her surviving children Larry, Paul, David, LeAnn and their families, as well as, her second family Betty, Bud and girls and sister Shirley.  She is preceded in death by her son, Allen, and many loved ones with whom she has now been reunited.  The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, spiritual and emotional support individuals who cared and comforted her in her last twenty-four hours of life.  We would also like to thank Isaiah of DeVargas Funeral Home for the compassionate care of her remains.  And to all who knew and shared time with Lucy, thank you for making her life rich and full.  She carried each of you in her heart. A Celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the residence of Lucille A. Decoeur. Following the celebration, Ms. Lucille will be taken back to her home state of Florida where further services will be held. The family of Lucille A.
