Lucas - Age 81 - Nambe - Duran

Lucas Jose Duran, 81, a resident of Nambe passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Mr. Duran worked for the Pojoaque Public Schools for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Melisendro Duran; mother, Filia Salazar; brother, Jose Duran; Godson, Joey Gerber; father-in-law, Valentin R. Valdez; mother-in-law, Eva O. Valdez; granddaughter, Stephanie Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Andres Sanchez. Lucas is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Filia V. Duran of Nambe; daughter, Roberta Duran Koelfgen and husband Todd of Scottsdale, AZ; step-daughter, Doretta Valdez of Nambe; grandsons: Cody Schroder of Scottsdale, AZ and Robert K. Rodriguez of Santa Fe; granddaughter, Priscilla Giguere of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Stephanie, Adrianna, Andres, Jagger and Reyes; sisters: Carmen Gerber and husband George of Santa Fe, Rose Martinez and husband Juan Rey of Santa Fe, Marty Duran and Berlinda of Santa Fe; brothers: Tony and Manuel Duran of Santa Fe; brothers-in-law: Benito Valdez and wife Grace of Pojoaque, Tony Valdez and wife Tessie of Nambe, Michael Valdez and wife Terri of Española; sisters-in-law: Corina Ortiz and husband Joe of Nambe, Maria Espinoza and husband Luben of Nambe, Gregory Tafoya and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Ermalinda Lujan and husband Jose of Santa Fe and Mela Sanchez of Santa Fe; and many nieces, nephews & friends. Cremation has taken place. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sagrada Corazon Church in Nambe with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Sagrada Corazon Church in Nambe. Burial to follow at the Nambe Cemetery. The family of Lucas Jose Duran have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
