Louisa C. Martinez, 96, a resident of El Guique, New Mexico was called to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 22, 2014. Louisa was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Aurelia; husband, Pedro; daughter, Mary Martha McKinney, son, Richard R. Martinez; son-in-law, Larry Warehime; sisters, Sinforosa Lujan, Stella Sanchez, Terry Baker, brother, Jose H. Casados and several other relatives. Louisa was born on July 3, 1918 to Simon and Aurelia (Sisneros) Casados in El Guique, NM, she married Pedro R. Martinez on December 15, 1938. Louisa was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Louisa faithfully cared for family and friends through her delicious cooking and baking. A woman of faith and the heart of the Martinez family, Louisa shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She devoted her life to her family and to the Catholic Church. Her greatest joys in life came from spending time with her family, cooking fabulous traditional Hispanic foods and working on the farm. Louisa is survived by her sister, Lydia Martinez; daughter, Lucille Warehime; grandchildren, Richard X. Martinez, Kevin (Jeanie) Martinez, Michele (Greg) Hoehne, James Martinez, Michael (Nicole) McKinney, Jonathan (Leslie) Martinez, Justina Martinez; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many close friends that survive her. Public visitation will begin on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Richard X. Martinez, Kevin Martinez, Greg Hoehne, Michael McKinney, James Martinez and Jonathan Martinez. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Carmelite Monastery 49 Mount Carmel Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505. A special thanks to Jesse, Tiffany and all others who provided medical care to her during her illness. The family of Louisa C.
