Louis Fernandez

Louis Eugene Fernandez , 39, a resident of Española, passed away from a illness on Friday, November 30, 2018. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Priscilla Fernandez; maternal grandparents, Joe Benito and Mary Sanchez; his infant son, Abraham Fernandez; grandparent in-laws, Jose Merced and Petrita Quintana and uncle, Benito Sanchez Jr. Louis worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 23 years and had multiple degrees in computers and engineering. He is an extreme sports enthusiast. He is a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be missed by all who know and love him. Louis is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Fernandez; son, Demetrius Fernandez; father, Edward Fernandez; mother, Becky Fernandez (Boyd Barela); sisters, Edwardine and Matilda Fernandez; niece, Rique Fernandez; nephews, Danny and Donavin Fernandez; God-daughter, Tayla Romero and numerous other friends and family. Public Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada in Santa Cruz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Everett Espinoza, Nathan (Nano) Romero, Buddy Espinoza, Ben Etuk, Randy Rodriguez, Chris Valdez, Estevan Figueroa, and John (Buck) Rodriguez. The family of Louis Eugene Fernandez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
