LORRAINE C. SANDOVAL, 67, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013, after an 8 year battle with Multiple System Atrophy-C (MSA-C). Lorraine was born on August 26, 1945. She was a life-long member of Holy Family Catholic Church volunteering her services until she could no longer volunteer due to MSA-C; she was also a member of the Guadalupanas and the Holy Family Association. She retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory with 30 years of service. She will be remembered for her unique personality, love, faith, compassion, inspiration, and always helping everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jose Corsinio and Mabel M. Cordova; husband, David Sandoval; mother-in-law, Cora Sandoval and step-children, Annabelle Martinez and Roger Sandoval. Mrs. Sandoval is survived by her daughter/caregiver, Joyce Martinez and husband Victor; grandsons who also helped care for their grandmother, Adam Martinez and wife Angelica and Justin Martinez and companion Noel; great-grandson, Christian; sisters, Bertha Martinez and husband Fernando, Judy Martinez and husband Michael and Gloria Sandoval and husband Joseph; close nieces who helped care for Lorraine, Brenda Jaramillo and husband Victor and Doris Aldaz; caregivers, Patsy Vigil, Alice Arellano and Pita Abeyta; step-children, Leonard Sandoval (Francesca), Geraldine Sandoval, Dolores Sisneros (Jim) and numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Thanks to the loving and caring team from Española Ambercare, and to all who kept Lorraine in your prayers, thoughts, and kind words of encouragement. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:45 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers: Adam and Justin Martinez, Victor Jaramillo and Fernando, Joe and Michael Martinez. The family of Lorraine C. Sandoval has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
