Lorraine S. Serna, 76, a resident of Upper San Pedro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on January 5, 2018. Lorraine was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Narciso and Victoriana Serrano; maternal grandparents Cruz and Lala Jaramillo; father, Henry Serrano, Sr.; mother, RoseMarie Serrano; mother-in-law, Carlota Serna; father in-law, Adelaido Serna; brother, Henry Serrano, Jr.; sister in-law, Evila Serrano; brother in-laws, Arthur Serna and Danny Serna; sister in-law, Jeanette Serna; brother in-law, Sam Alderete; niece, Selin Alderete; aunt Helen Jimenez and husband Benny; aunt Sally Lea and husband Benny; uncle Pete Jaramillo and wife Pauline.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lalo A. Serna; son Leon Serna and fiancé Joanne Curran; son Loren A. Serna and wife Lori Serna; beloved grandchildren, Cory Andrew Serna and Lainie Marie Serna; sister Lydia Ortiz and husband Tom; sister Patricia Herrera and husband Chris; brother Gilbert Serrano and wife Carmen; brother Jimmy Serrano and companion Patricia; sister Jeanie Padilla; sister in-laws Sally Alderete, Annabelle Serna, Laverne Trujillo and husband George, brother in-law Nick Serna and wife Lola; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was employed by the Jemez Mountain Coop. for 22 years. She enjoyed her retirement as an avid runner and bowler as she participated in numerous competitive events. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events while cheering on and supporting the St. Michael’s Horsemen. She was a devoted Catholic and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Lorraine was an especially devoted and loving mother to her sons, Loren and Leon Serna, as she always supported them and their families with their endeavors.
The family extends their utmost gratitude to the following individuals for their excellent support and loving, knowledgeable care of Lorraine: Carmen De Alva, Aracely Grimaldi, Patsy Herrera and Ambercare staff to include Merriah Pizzanno, Virginia Sanchez, Huisan Kim, Gracie Haws, Devona Naranjo, Nancy Dominguez, Janice Trujillo and Diane Batista.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. The family of Lorraine S.
