LORRAINE MONTOYA, a resident of Nambe, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmel and Juanita Romero; in-laws, Ramon and Frances Montoya; sister, Chabella; daughter, Lourdes Montoya; granddaughter, Ursula Duran and God-child, Steven Montoya. She was a woman of many talents. Nothing was impossible. She loved people and always opened her BIG heart to them. She was a foster parent and took care of many children. Many other children adopted her as their surrogate mother. She drove the school bus in Pojoaque for 18 years and is remembered fondly by the students. She and her husband, Ben, own the Roadrunner Café. Mrs. Montoya is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jose Ben Montoya; children, Erlinda Ortiz and husband Bert, Elizabeth Findling and husband Robert, Elaine Duran and husband David, Rick Montoya and Estolano Montoya; surrogate children, Mario J. Montoya (God-son); daughter-in-law, Angela Coriz; deeply loved grandchildren, Matias, Marcos, Corrina, Venessa, Santana, JoDaniel, Marquita, Naomi, Monique, Kim, Lorrena, Elena and Victoria; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carmen Herrera and husband Frudy, Bennie Trujillo and husband Willie, Tillie Garcia, MaryAnn Griego, Mino Romero and wife Agnes, David Romero and wife Luggie, Sophie Howard and husband Harry, Sammy Romero and wife Christina and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 15, 2012 at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:30 p.m. also at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Mario Montoya, Marcos Ortiz, Keith Herrera, Alfred Trujillo, Peter Romero and Donald Roybal. Honorary pallbearers named are, Robert Romero, Michael Roybal, Roland Garcia, Carl Griego, David Daniel Romero, Charles Trujillo, Greg Romero, Ronald Montoya, Michael Montoya and Matias Ortiz. The family of Lorraine Montoya has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
