Loretta Cortez Bailon, 75, a resident of Taos, passed away following a lengthy illness on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Amarante and Jessie Cortez; husband, Jimmie Bailon; in-laws, Bertha and Bernabe Bailon; brothers, Felix Gomez, Bernabe Martinez, Orlando Cortez; sister, Betty and Cipriano Herrera; brothers-in-law, Joe Bailon, Liebert Bailon, Armando Rivera, Roy Bailo; sisters-in-law, Sadie Chavez and Mae Bailon. Loretta was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, her life revolved around her girls. She loved to gamble with two special cousins, Ruffie and Josie. She will be missed dearly. May she rest in peace. Loretta is survived by her daughters, Valerie and Yolanda Bailon both of Taos; grandchildren, Brandon Trujillo, Matthew Trujillo and Delilah Trujillo all of Taos; sister, Viola Rivera of Taos; brother, Leroy Cortez and Fabbie of Taos; sisters-in-law, Agatha Gomez of Tooele Utah, Becky Cortez of Taos, Carmen Bailon of Taos, Lawrence (Penny) Bailon, and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Jesus Nazareno Cemetery in Ranchos de Taos. The family of Loretta Cortez Bailon has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
