Lloyd P. Martinez, 61, born and raised in Barranco, New Mexico passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012. Lloyd enjoyed the beauty of New Mexico Mountains, hunting, fishing, cutting wood and latillas. He also enjoyed being with his kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Adrian Martinez Valdez; maternal grandmother, Pablita (Phol) Martinez; paternal grandparents, Juan and Juanita Martinez; parents, Justinano and Eliza Martinez; brother, Gilbert Martinez; nephews: Ronnie and David (Duke) Martinez and Walter Valdez; step-nephew, Joe (Bolo) Chacon; father-in-law, Serafin Valdez. Lloyd is survived by the mother of his children, Dolores Valdez of Canones; daughters: Kris Martinez, Eliza Martinez and companion Jay Jacquez all of Abiquiu, Julianne Martinez of Canones; a cousin raised as a son, Fidel Serrano and wife Pricilla of Abiquiu; grandchildren he raised as his own, Adriana and Angelic Martinez; grandchildren: Kristian, Destiny, Louis Jr., Danyel (Gibby) and Samantha (Sam) Martinez and Justina Gallegos; brother, Donald Martinez and wife Flora of Medenales; sisters: Lupe Martinez of Española, Yolanda Varela and husband Toribio of Medenales, Grace and Bernadino Sanchez of Alcalde; a nephew raised as a brother, Juan Martinez of Española; uncles: Pedro Martinez and wife Ida and Miguel Martinez of Sacramento, California; aunt, Onofre Archuleta of Abiquiu; mother-in-law, Lucy Valdez of Canones; two brothers in law, Martin and wife Georgia Valdez and Auturo and wife Aurelia Valdez; sister in law, Higinia and husband Wilfred “Watts” Gallegos, Sr. all of Canones; his best friends: Emilio Lovato of Canones and Juan Manzanares of Medenales; 19 nieces/nephews; 38 great-nieces/nephews; many cousin, loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Canones with burial to follow at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be: Ricky and Isaac Sanchez, Justin Varela, Arturo Valdez Jr., Marty John Valdez, Wilfred (Wil) Gallegos, Jay Jacquez and Faustin Martinez; honorary pallbearers: Emilio Lovato, Juan Manzanares, Danyel, Louis Jr., Kristian, Destiny and Samantha Martinez, Angela Valdez, Elizabeth Varela, Jeannie Martinez, Crystal Valdez and Pearl Lopez; his godchildren: Roxanne Gonzales, Justina Gallegos, Ronnie Serrano Jr., Melissa Serrano and Rickey Sanchez.
