Lionel P. - Age 84 - Los Alamos Collier, Sr.

LIONEL P. COLLIER, SR., 84, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Collier; father, Victor Lionel Collier and brother, Frank Collier. He was raised in East Texas and attended Kilgore Jr. College and was drafted into the United States Army Air Force. He worked on the Savannah River project in South Carolina and then worked for Consolidated Electro Dynamics Corporation as an engineer. He then went to work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory on August 3, 1964 as a supervisor for the Instrument Repair Section, retiring January 4, 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent his time gardening and being outdoors with family and friends. He was a very loving husband, father and great friend to all. Mr. Collier is survived by his wife, Concha Collier of Los Alamos; son, Lionel Perry Collier, Jr. of Escondido, CA; sister, Gwendolyn Morrissey of Newburgh, New York; niece, Sheri and nephew, Clay Morrissey of New York; sisters-in-law, Teresa B. Borrego and husband Juan of Pojoaque and Celsa B. Lucero of Santo Niño and Margarita Trujillo and husband Henry of Pojoaque; brother-in-law, Joe Bustos, Jr. of Pojoaque and many other loving relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Memorial mass to be celebrated on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. Honorary pallbearers named are, Nathan Borrego, Scott Bustos, Joe R. Bustos, Clay Morrissey, Andrew Lucero, John S. Borrego, Christopher Borrego, Edward Borrego and Brad Collier. The family of Lionel P. Collier, Sr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
