Lionel Martinez

Lionel Carlitos Martinez, 42, a resident of El Llano, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Lionel was preceded in death by his father, Epimenio Martinez; sister, Anna M. Ortiz; nephew, Dominic Ortiz; maternal grandparents who raised him, Clotario and Orlinda Martinez; paternal grandparents, Eloy and Cleotilde Bustos-Martinez; uncles, James and Anthony Martinez; cousins, Pamela Cordova, Stephanie Salazar and cousins whom he considered siblings, Claudette Martinez and Joshua Chavez. Lionel loved music and low riders and enjoyed writing songs. He loved spending his time outdoors, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed sports, especially playing basketball and baseball. Lionel is survived by the mother of his son, Adrina Vigil; son, Matthew Vigil; grandson, Santiago Vigil; mother, Sharon Dunsworth (Robert); step-father, Michael Ortiz; siblings, Daniel and Angel Ortiz, Adelina Martinez, Janaisa Maestas and Jonathan Chavez; maternal aunts and uncles, Pamela Flowers, Annette Gonzales (Anthony), Mark Chavez, and Joseph Martinez; paternal aunt and uncles, Cecilia Martinez-Salazar (Miguel), Dennis Martinez (Antoinette), Enrique Martinez and Michael Martinez, and numerous relatives and friends whom he loved dearly. Public visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Anthony Gonzales, Bryan Garcia, Jonathon Chavez, Daniel Maestas, Michael Martinez and Enrique Martinez. The family of Lionel Carlitos Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
