In Loving Memory of Levi Sanchez
June 20, 1937 – February 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Levi Sanchez, who left this world on February 25, 2025, at the age of 87. A man of quiet strength, deep wisdom, and unwavering love, he touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy that will never fade.
Born in Gallina, New Mexico, Levi carried with him the values of hard work, resilience, and integrity. Whether working with his hands, providing for his family, or sharing life lessons, he led by example. He was a devout Catholic, who believed in doing things right and proper, and who lived with honor and kindness.
Levi was happiest surrounded by family, cruising to Gallina, working in the yard, or simply watching his grandkids grow. He loved boating, water skiing, camping, fishing, and spending time with friends. His presence was steady and reassuring—a rock for those who needed him most. His wisdom, quick wit, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Levi retired as General Manager of the Jemez Mountain Electric Coop, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting impact.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Sanchez; his grandchildren Aaron, Anthony, Andres, Estevan, and Kaylyn Sanchez; his great-granddaughter Areli Sanchez; God daughter April Sattler (Tony), his Tía Delfida Corrales (107 years old); his nieces Marie Millsap, Marcella Romero, Lisa Sanchez and Nora Urioste; his nephews Mario Sanchez and James Urioste; and many other beloved family members. Sisters in law, Ernestine Ortiz (Lawrence), Martha Martinez (Ross), brother in law Julian Martinez.
Levi was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Anthony Sanchez; his parents, Espiridion and Fedelina Sanchez; his sisters, Adonelia Serrano (Frank), Porfiria Urioste (James), and Octaviana Sanchez; his brother, Manuel Sanchez; his close nieces Faye Davis (Gordon) and Emma Baird (Len); and his nephews Frank Serrano, Carlos Sanchez, and Ed Millsap.
