We are saddened to announce that Leroy Vigil, 81, our beloved father, grandfather, Tio, Padrino, and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday July 4, 2020. Born in Truchas, NM he lived a long and happy life and loved his family unconditionally. He was dedicated to his faith and served as a penitente for close to 70 years and instilled his love of his religious faith in his family and anyone he spent time with. Leroy had a 41-year career at Los Alamos Labs while also tending to his farm and being a leader in his beloved Truchas community and church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, dancing with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends. Spending most of his retirement years in Albuquerque, Leroy was blessed to live next door to Cathie and Eddie Garcia, who welcomed and cared for them, and who he loved like his own family. He welcomed everyone into his home, his sense of humor and his infectious laugh made everyone feel at home.
He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, siblings, grandparents, and many other loving family members. Leroy is survived by his beloved wife of 59 and a half years, Flora; five daughters, Brenda Griego (Walter), Della Gonzales (John), Aggie Vigil (Ben), Darlene Vigil (Michael) and Doreen Chavez (Tim); nine grandchildren, Jessica, Felice (Gavin), Diego (Ashley), Desiree, Mikaela (Neal), Megan, Daron, Nathaniel and Samuel; six great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Ahijai, Zeah, Layla, Lia, and Maya; in-laws Cheryl Lopez (Horace), Rose Gallardo, Ruby Lopez, Diane Martinez (Ron); siblings Mardo (Josie) and sister Candelaria from Albuquerque; Sister Dolorita of Michigan; Nina, Nai (JoAnn), Sonny (Patsy), Johnny, and Connie of Utah; Larry of Wyoming, and Reynaldo (Pauline) of Rio Rancho.
